I’m Melaney, and I live with my family on our smallholding, where we’ve spent the last eighteen years raising 3 kids, and sharing life with a small pack of beloved dogs

I used to run a small dog daycare here and absolutely loved it — but a few years ago, Covid pulled me in a different direction as I focused on family (yes, the dreaded home schooling) as well as supporting my husband’s business at that time.

Recently we lost our three old amazing pets — Luna & Hector (in the photo), and Porridge our cat — leaving Raisin, our French Pointer, looking depressed without his best friends. Meanwhile, the kids, in their early teens, are desperate for another dog, so the idea of welcoming furry guests into our home again just made sense.

Our Aim

My approach is to create a deep, trusting bond with both you and your dog, so that you can feel completely at ease knowing your pet is in good hands.

I aim to provide a warm, relaxed, home-from-home environment where your dog(s) will be properly looked after. I understand how important that peace of mind is. I’m looking to welcome like-minded clients who are seeking more than just a drop-in service — those who truly want their dog to have a second home..

One important thing to note: Raisin is older now, so I’m looking for calm, sociable dogs who’ll slot in nicely. Dog dynamics are important to me, so we’ll always have a proper chat beforehand to make sure it’s a good fit.

Boggsdogs was our first experience leaving our dog Breagha so it was a big deal for us Mel and her excellent team were so friendly and welcoming it made it so much easier knowing our dog would be surrounded by such warmth. Boggs Dogs has been amazing for our Springer, Lola. When she was a puppy she was nervous around other dogs but the team at Boggs are great. They were supportive and consistent with her and in less than a month of being there her behaviour around other dogs transformed. She loves Boggs and all the exercise she gets there. I love all the space and the family feel. A real find.

We were delighted to find Mel and Boggs Dogs. The space available for walks and play is huge so Orla, our young Vizsla was very well exercised. It is the perfect place for an energetic dog. We’ve enjoyed the photo and video updates. I can't recommend Mel highly enough.

Both my Newfie’s love it at Boggs Dogs, they’re so well cared for and come home worn out after a lovely day of walking and playing. The communication is great and any questions I have are quickly answered. It’s an amazing place and I’d recommend to anyone.

Our wirehaired Hungarian vizsla goes on his holidays to Boggs Dogs and I know that he has an awesome time and is in amazingly good hands. I can't decide if he's just exhausted when we pick him up from all the playing or if he's actually a bit sad to be back at home, he loves it that much! Couldn't recommend Mel and her team more highly.

Amos our whippet is quite sensitive but has settled in so well with Boggs. He really enjoys his days there and the ladies are all fantastic. We know he's in good hands when we can't be with him. We loved that there was a mix of walks, playing outside and some room indoors when needed. Amos loves his cuddles and gets plenty! Only thing I would love even more would be some more pictures and videos

Our dog Spot has been coming here since Boggs Dogs was born and he absolutely loves it! Mel and the team are great - and their facilities are getting swankier year on year.

Winnie attends Boggs Dogs 5 days a week while we work and she absolutely loves it! The safe space they have to run and play is fantastic. Mel & all the staff are lovely and clearly genuinely love dogs. I have often said to friends that if I was to return in another life - I would want to be a Boggs Dog! Thank you for caring for Winnie so well.

Very warm and welcoming environment for all breeds of pooch. I visited today with all the snow and it was just beautiful. Acres of space with woodlands make this a doggy paradise. Alistair (Pencaitland)
